SPF Logistics, also known as San Pedro Forklift (SPF), began in 1983 as a service providing forklifts and operators for the Chilean product industry in Los Angeles harbor. As the volume of Chilean break-bulk cargo grew over time, SPF Logistics expanded its operations to Port of San Diego and Port Hueneme.
In the mid-90's refrigerated containers were increasingly utilized as a mode of transport to the US for many fresh fruit commodities. Realizing the need to service this growing segment to the industry, SPF opened it's first container facility in the middle of the Los Angeles/Long Beach port complex in October of 1999. The operation eventually went beyond produce imports to include railcar operations, fumigations, cotton, alfalfa as well as frozen foods. SPF Logistics facilities in West Coasts ports are located inside the overweight corridors allowing for legal movement of heavy loads with specially permitted equipment.
